Summary: This is The Red Necklace’s sequel. It starts with the beheadings when the French Revolution is at its highest point. Nobody is safe from the guillotine. Yann Margoza helps rescuing people who have been sentenced to death. Once he left a silver blade hanging in the air when he rescued someone. That’s why people have started calling him The Silver Blade. Nobody knows, of course, who he is. He dreams of visiting his true love, Sido. She’s in London with her aunt and uncle. All is quite well until Kalliovski starts haunting them. HE died in the previous book and made a pact with the devil, that’s why he’s still alive. His skin is now made of wax and he lives under the city of Paris in the catacombs. He is after Yann because he knows how to manipulate golden threads he sees and with that power he can suspend things in the air etc. He intends to get to Yann by Sido. He kidnaps her. Meanwhile Yann learns that he is actually Kalliovski’s son. Broken-hearted he wanders off and he isn’t the same when he returns. In that time Kalliovski finds a new helper, Anselm. He looks beautiful but murders people for fun. In the end, Yann gets kidnaped, too and is taken to the catacombs. He finds Sido and, stronger than ever, defeats Kalliovski. He rescues his friends from the guillotine and they all go to the countryside. Sometime later Yann and Sido get married.

Characters:

Yann: a gypsy, magician, sees the golden threads and can manipulate them. Has the ability to calm people down. Very calm and self-controlled.

Sido: love of Yann’s life and she loves him, too. She doesn’t want to live a normal life and she refers to herself as gypsy at heart.

Kalliovski: terrifying, very evil. Yann’s father and he murdered his mother. Likes making automatons.

Anselm: Kalliovski’s helper, very beautiful, evil and childish.

Opinion: Enchanting. Honestly. I loved reading it and I loved the magic and the how thrilling it was. I think the story is very interesting and I like how evil is defeated. It’s like it couldn’t be any different and evil has to be defeated one way or another.
