THE LITTLE WHITE HORSE - ELIZABETH GOUDGE

Summary:

The Little White Horse is a fairy tale like book. It talks about Maria Merryweather who becomes an orphan when she is 13 years old. She goes to Moonacre Manor with her governess, Miss Heliotrope to stay at her cousin’s. There she learns about the legend of the little white horse and the Moonacre princess that lived in that same manor a long time ago. She also finds out that her ancestors stole a hill in the valley from God. She is determined to give it back with help from her childhood friend Robin. Together they bring peace back to the valley by helping Maria’s cousin, Sir Benjamin Merryweather and the black men to be friends again.

Characters:

The main characters are Maria Merryweather, the moon princess, Robin, her best friend and at the end of the book her husband, Loveday Minette who is Robin’s mother, Miss Heliotrope, Maria’s governess and Sir Benjamin Merryweather who is Maria’s cousin. Pretty much everyone in this book is nice or becomes nice by the end.

Opinion:

I loved this book so much! It’s peaceful and exciting at once and it made me feel like I was at home. I would recommend it to everyone except maybe not if you don’t like fairy tales and fantasy. It’s one of my favourite books ever.
